Premier, Inc., a Delaware corporation headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, together with its current and future Affiliates (“Premier,” “we,” “us”, or “our”), takes your privacy and the protection of your personal data seriously. Please read this Cookies and Online Tracking Technologies Policy (“Policy”) carefully as it contains important information about our online tracking technology practices. This Policy explains how we use cookies and other online tracking technologies along with the choices you have surrounding such use on your computer, laptop, phones, and/or other digital or connected devices.
This Policy applies to:
- our website, www.premierinc.com, and any of its subdomains, redirects, or variations, mobile applications, and social media pages (collectively, the “Sites”); and
- our products and services in connection with sales, marketing, partner and supplier engagement, third-party sources, including ad networks and lead brokers; and any other online or offline service, tool, event, or other context where we link or otherwise provide a copy of this Policy (collectively, the “Services”).
Like many other providers, Premier uses first-party cookies, third-party cookies, and other automated data collection technologies, such as web beacons, pixel tags, or clear GIFs (collectively, “cookies”), to provide certain features and functions of the Sites and Services to you.
By visiting, interacting with, or using our Site and/or our Services, you consent to the use of cookies as explained in this Policy. Please note that our Terms and Conditions are hereby incorporated by reference and apply to your use or continued use and interaction with our Site and/or our Services.
WHAT ARE COOKIES AND OTHER ONLINE TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?
Cookies are small pieces of text, or alphaneumeric identifiers, that websites or mobile applications you visit send and store on the browser of your computer or similar digital device. Cookie categorization depends on who hosts the cookies and where it is placed.
Key Definitions:
- First-party cookies: cookies set by the website domain you are directly interacting with (e.g., cookies placed by Premier on its Site or digital property you are visiting)
- Third-party cookies: cookies set by a party other than the website domain you are directly interacting with (e.g., cookies placed by Meta on the Premier website or digital property you are visiting). When you navigate to a Site or Service that includes or embeds content or services from other sites (e.g., ads, videos, social media integrations or plug-ins), those external sites and services can save and access third-party cookies set on your device.
- Browser session: when you open an internet browser window and close the browser window.
- Session cookies: permit a website to temporarily set cookies and remember your website preferences or actions during the duration of your visit. Once you close your browser or turn off your device, session cookies are intended to be deleted.
- Persistent cookies: cookies that are stored on your device until they expire or you delete them. These cookies can help us understand if your device has visited our Sites or Services in the past and which webpages you have visited.
Additional online tracking technologies we may use that function similarly to cookies include:
- Pixel tags: web beacons, web tags, and clear GIFs. These small graphics are not clearly visible when viewing a website, page, or email, and send information along with the request to the web server with the image.
- HTTP eTags: unique identifier for web page caching allowing a website visitor to be recognized on subsequent visits.
- Scripts: embedded code on web pages that provide certain web browser information to the code provider when you visit those web pages.
- Flash cookies: local shared objects used by the Adobe Flash Player which can contain additional information specific to Adobe Flash Player. Flash cookies can share information with different web browsers on your device. Flash cookies may be used to deliver rich content (e.g., video clips).
When you use a mobile application or device, we may collect certain information about your use and interaction with the mobile application (e.g., operating system type, browser type, domain and other system settings, search queries, the time zone in which the mobile device is located, mobile phone service provider, metadata and other information associated with other files stored on your device). We may also collect information about the location of the mobile device used to access our mobile application.
- Location Data: (i) the location of the mobile device derived from GPS or Wi-Fi use, (ii) the IP address of the mobile device or internet service used to access the Site or Services; and (iii) other information made available by a user or others that indicates the current or prior location of the user, such as geotag information in photographs. We will inform you if a specific mobile application collects precise location data.
- Advertising IDs: (i.e., Apple IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) or GAID (Google Advertising ID)) random device identifiers assigned by Apple or Google to a user’s device. Those identifiers can be used by mobile applications to evaluate quality of marketing campaigns.
HOW PREMIER USES COOKIES
Most websites and digital properties use cookies. Generally, cookies can serve a variety of purposes, including, but not limited to, providing a safe site experience, improving web functionality, measuring ad effectiveness, or tailoring content and information to personalize and make your experience more enjoyable with us.
At Premier, we may use cookies for the following categories:
- Strictly Necessary (Essential): These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions you explicitly request, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work.
- Functional: These cookies enable the website to remember choices you or your device have indicated (e.g., language preferences) and provide enhanced functionality and personalized features that improve your web experience. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly.
- Performance (Analytics) Cookies: These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors navigate around the site. If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you have visited our site and will not be able to monitor its performance.
- Targeting (Advertising) Cookies: These cookies may be set by us or our advertising partners and are used to deliver personalized advertisements and content that may be relevant or meaningful to you based on your interests. These cookies may be used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less personalized and relevant content and information.
- Social Media Cookies: These cookies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to the site to enable you to share our content with your friends and networks. They are capable of tracking your browser across other sites and building up a profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on other websites you visit. If you do not allow these cookies you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools.
The cookies we use and how we use them may change over time as we continuously improve and update our Sites and Services. Please navigate to our “Privacy Preference Center” located on in the footer of our homepage to review and manage specific cookies and their categories.
THIRD-PARTY COOKIES AND INTEREST-BASED ADVERTISING
In addition to our own cookies, we may engage third party vendors to use their cookies to report to us usage statistics of the Sites or Services, deliver Premier advertisements on, through, and about the Sites and Services, and for other similar purposes.
- For example, we partner with Google Analytics, who uses cookies to track your interactions with our Sites and Services. Google collects information and reports it to us, without identifying individual users. This information enables us improve our Sites and Services so that we can better serve users like you. For more information on Google Analytics, visit www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/.On certain webpages of our Sites and Services, we may include social media plugins, such as the Facebook “like” button or Twitter “share” button. When you visit a page that displays one or more these plug-ins, your browser will establish a direct connection to the social media server to load the plug-in. If you are logged into your social media account when you access these pages, the social media site may collect certain activity data, such as your IP address. If you wish to prevent this, please log out of your social media accounts before visiting our Services. Clicking a button may also lead to a collection of certain activity data, such as your IP address. If you wish to obtain more information about social plug-ins, please visit the specific social media sites’ privacy policies and preferences settings.
WHAT ARE YOUR CHOICES REGARDING COOKIES AND OTHER AUTOMATED TECHNOLOGIES?
If you wish to opt out of the use of cookies and other technologies for targeted advertising purposes, you can do so by navigating to the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer of our homepage or the Premier website you are visiting or clicking our “Privacy Preference Center” to manage your cookie consent preferences.
We may use vendors to serve advertisements on our behalf across the Internet. You may exercise choice over how information about your interests is used by ad networks to deliver you relevant advertising for products and services available from us. Please note that certain tracking mechanisms operate at the device and browser level and may require you to opt-out on each device and browser individually.
To learn how to opt out of ad network interest-based advertising, please visit the following resources:

- Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”): https://thenai.org/how-to-opt-out/
- You may consider activating the NAI Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser extension, which can automatically send requests to opt out of targeted advertising and other data sharing and selling as you browse the web. In some U.S. jurisdictions, businesses may be required by law to honor opt-out requests sent using GPC.

Please note that an opt out from one or more companies listed on the DAA, DAAC, or EDAA consumer choice pages will not prevent you from seeing those companies’ advertisements. Rather, the opt out will prevent these companies from using your information to display targeted content or ads to you. You may continue to receive advertisements that are selected based on the particular website that you are viewing (i.e., contextually based ads).
Further, if your browsers are configured to reject cookies when you visit the DAA, DAAC or EDAA consumer choice pages, your opt out may not be effective because your browser will refuse opt-out cookies (i.e. cookies that alert companies that you have exercised your opt-out preference).
Device Identifier Settings (e.g., Apple IDFA and GAIDs): Your device operating system may permit you to opt out from having certain device identifiers used for interest-based advertising. We encourage you to review the instructions provided by your mobile device’s manufacturer, which is typically available under the “Settings” function of your mobile device.
Additionally, if you’d like to delete cookies or instruct your web browser to delete or refuse cookies, you may do so using your browser settings. Please note, however, that if you delete cookies or refuse to accept them, you might not be able to use some of the features we offer, you may not be able to store your preferences (including your cookie setting preferences above), and some of our pages might not display properly.
DO NOT TRACK SIGNALS
Some browser features or add-ons allow consumers to send an “opt-out preference signal” to companies whose websites they visit, such as the “Do Not Track” signal or the “Global Privacy Control” signal. These signals, when turned on, tell the websites you visit that you do not wish to be tracked or do not want your information shared for targeted advertising purposes. Many websites and applications, including our Sites and Services, do not currently respond to web browser DNT signals because such signals are not yet uniform. For more information about DNT signals, please visit http://allaboutdnt.com.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may change, modify, or update this Policy from time to time, or as necessary in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and industry standards. Your continued use of our Site after any updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically to stay informed about any changes.
If we make any material updates to this Policy, we will endeavor to notify you prior to the changes taking effect through one or more of the following means:
